here we go,
Reds1 was right; its sad to see that we have lost so much faith in the team that we now can't
even summon up the enthusiasm to start a post about a forthcoming game!

Well here it is, 48 hrs in advance

Pompey should be a win win game, we should get back to winning ways just in time for the
Lille (must win) and Man U away next week, lose this and it could be sayonara EVERYTHING!
4th/5th/6th AND the Europa League.

Last season I was slating Rafa off for rotating too much.......now he NEVER rotates when lets be honest some of our players need rotating/resting or whatever else you like to call it.
Torres is also another game closer to full fitness.

lets have this line up plz Rafa and ditch the hoof mentality:

----------------Riena-------------
Johno----Greek----Agger--Insua
----------------Masch (C)----------
Maxi---Aquilani--Spearing-Babel
---------------Torres---------------

Bench:
Kuyt
Riera
N'Gog
Degen
El Zhar

No 'Incredible Sulk', Carra or Lucas........they don't deserve their places after weeks
of consistently poor performances, Kuyt only gets in because Pacheco is still away with spain
otherwise he would be playing 2nd string too.
I believe Benny and Fabio are injured and Darby has been farmed out on loan!
Give Masch the armband and lets see if he can inspire Insua to extract an extra digit
and lets give Aqua a decent chance please.
Its time for Jay to be let off the leash too.

You may look at that line up and think or say its a poor line up but look at the Wigan, Pompey away and Lille starting 11 and tell me why they deserve their spot? and after so many lacklustre performances I believe they have had their chance to save us and show us what they can do, stars they may be, doing their job they most definately are not.
Fuck them all off to Wigan with the reserves.

3-1 Liverpool btw
Babel, Torres and Maxi to break his duck.....MOM Aquilani

Lafa its up to you......after Wigan you said
I have to be really disappointed and I can't be happy after losing a game like that," the boss told his post-match press conference.
In the first half we didn't do anything and we kept giving the ball away. We didn't win any first or second balls and it was difficult to explain.
We talked about our first-half performance during the break and in the second half our attitude was much better, but it still wasn't enough.
It's a question of analysing why we didn't show the character we had to show in the first half

So do something about it.....afterall its your head on the block

that is all

I admire your sentiments Torbs but I can't see your line-up happening. Rafa and the players still harbour delusional ambitions of finishing in the CL places and hence why Gerrard and Carra will probably play. Gerrard's form and leadership has been poor this season perhaps tired and disappointed of trying to carry the club for too long. The talk of Torres' considering his future is terribly worrying. The whole club is in a state of malaise which won't be lifted until something is done with our ownership. Why would any decent player want to come to Liverpool in our current state hence why we trawl for Bosmans. Our current financial situation is not sustainable, there has been a net negative investment in the club this season and as a club we cannot compete against the sugar daddies in the league. Our long held view that we belong at the top echelon of the premiership is misguided and a thing of the past. It just doesn't happen, the PL is a tough comp and our club has taken their eyes off the ball.

We desperately need a spark from somewhere for our team to have any hope for finishing fourth. Where's it going to come from?

Anyway I hope we go for the jugular, play an open, attacking and attractive style of football. Maybe play 2 up front - it could be any worse could it?

I agree BDU........

I know my line up will not happen, its what I'd do forunately but I'm not the manager, I can only wish,
I'm sick of hearing Lafa complain in his press conferences about our lack of enthusiasm/character/desire then do nowt about it.
I'd give up my unusually large man tool for the chance to coach the current squad and pick a line up and tactics to win the Pompey game. :D

Its a forum for discussion............lets discuss, I would love to see other forumites line ups IF they were the manager tomorrow, and love to hear their views on why they would go for said line up.

Also, Man U have a bigger debt than us and they seem to do ok :?

I'd like to see the day where rafa has the balls to drop players who aren't performing well. I agree, if he wants players to lift, throw them the prospect of fighting for their position, bring in some of the youngsters like spearing, darby or kelly and they will show the team what fighting spirit looks like. Shit we have man u coming up. This is a must win game, if we go into a man u clash after Portsmouth has just done the double over us i think i might watch the game with my eyes shut.

As such i reckon this will be our line up

Carragher-------Kyriagger-------Insua
-----------masch----Lucas-------------
Kuyt-------------Gerrard---------Babel
---------------Torres-------------------

Im not even gonna try and guess a score but only cos im afraid we will lose :(

Hey great post man, it got me excited for the game! Yeah mix it up see what happens, can't do anything worse than the last couple of games. Would love to see Pachecho get some game time tho I think he's in Spain, Spearing always looks great in the reserves an seems to be able to pass the ball well enough which is something we have been sorely lacking but I doubt it'll ever happen. Picking the line up is always impossible so I'm just gonna go with what I'd like to see...

Reina
Johnson - Carragher - Kyri - Agger
Benayoun - Gerrard - Masch - Babel
Aquiliani
Torres

Cause the papers let them get away with it, since they're a "much bigger club". They're also getting better refinancing deals, which aren't available to us, for whatever reason.

Its not about the money, my comment was about people saying our off the field woes are affecting the way we are playing directly.......some people seem to blame the owners for every defeat :?

The papers do go easy on Fergie and Man U because they are the nations favourite 2nd team and have been since the Munich air disater in 1958

Now lets take that BEAutiful thing we could actually call football for once and demolish Lille at home before a tough win at the red scummy fungus of manchester...hahaha :)

Well done Aqua, Babel, Torres, Masch, Maxi...

All where superb tonight...

What an earth was Gerrard thinking though...!!!???

I hate Michael Brown as much as the rest of the world but that was a blaytant red card...

Im sorry but that was needless and wreckless when we were 3-0 up against the bottom side...

Hmmmm the plot thickens...

IMO that is our best possible line up. Aqua was awesome and he adds extra in attack because he likes to get into the box and push forward. Its also good to see Maxi and Torres creat a combination together. Maxi seems like a very unselfish player bacause he always look for a pass to assist a goal rather than shoot and hope for the best. Babels speed is always dangerous and he has heaps of power outside the box. I hope he keeps improving and proves my previous opinion of him as wrong.

As for gerrard, I believe he had a very solid game in the midfield. Thats the gerrard we all know, roving around and constantly looking for an opportunity.

all in all, though it was against last place, was a great game and could be a good build up to the frogs and scum.

Ohhhhhhh Stevie, what were you thinking.....

Great to see the lads pull a result, but lets not get too ahead of ourselves guys, it was Portsmouth.

Kudos to Maxi and Babel, and obviously Aqui and Torres, great game had by just about everyone.

Let's see if we can get something against half decent opposition.

Ohhhh Stevie......

It really was pretty terrible, despite the fact it was that peice of scum Michael Brown...

Great game! Well done to everyone on the pitch esp Aquiliani. Was so good to see us passing the ball around and playing with some confidence! Also nice to see an attacking line up and to see Kelly get some minutes. Please Rafa dont change the team for Lille, if I see Kuyt or Lucas on the teamsheet an Babel or Aquiliani on the bench after todays performances I will die a little inside.

As said above a very satisfying win - thrilled we attacked them with our quickest line-up and I am relieved to see that we can still do it - I was starting to wonder. Even though it wasn't Babel's best game (not that he was bad) you could feel the excitement when he got the ball that maybe he was going to do something with it because of the pace he was attacking at. Best game by far I have seen Aquilani play - good to see him show off his wares long may it continue. Good win Redmen and now onto a couple of big games. Any bets Gerrard will get suspended for the OT match? Probably will if the scum loving FA have their way.
